Neil first secured a position with the Crown Prosecution Service in Liverpool where he gained valuable insight into the developments of a criminal case from the Prosecution’s point of view. He soon realised however that his interests lay more in defence work and having relocated to Manchester, Neil was interviewed by one of the largest firms that specialised solely in road traffic law in February 2008 and offered employment on the spot which is where he first met Gillian Forrest.

Whilst with the firm, Neil developed genuine expertise in the niche and highly specialised area of road traffic law. Working alongside the country’s leading professionals which included solicitors, barristers and a range of different expert witnesses, Neil gained an exceptional understanding of the intricacies this area of law held. Unlike most criminal offences where there is a “statutory defence”, Neil excelled at finding flaws in the Prosecution’s case to strengthen his own client’s defence.

Neil soon became a core member of the firm and accrued a trial success rate that surpassed those of his more experienced peers. As a result, Neil was (rather embarrassingly) dubbed the “Natural Born Winner” by the firm’s Managing Partner and was often responsible for training new staff and developing new procedures to help maintain the firm’s overall reputation.

His success in road traffic law acts as a testimony to his legal ability and Neil became a trusted and reliable colleague, with clients praising him for both his expertise and exceptional level of client care. Neil avoids legal jargon and provides clients with an unbiased and honest opinion of their case which allows them to make more informed decisions.

In June 2011, Neil wanted to progress further with his career and he brought his expertise to Olliers Solicitors in June 2011 to head up our newly-developing road traffic department. Within his first year, Neil developed the department to such an extent that additional members of staff were required and another colleague joined the department shortly after as a specialist road traffic solicitor.

Whilst Neil specialises in all road traffic offences, he has a particular interest in drug and alcohol-related allegations which is where his expertise truly excels. Not only because this part of the law is more interesting to him, but also because the consequences of such convictions can be catastrophic for many people and he genuinely wishes to help clients where he can. This is a quality that Neil’s clients notice and appreciate which is evident in his collection of testimonials.

Neil has developed and maintained the professional relationships he first established back in 2008, with his esteemed colleagues applauding him for the thoroughness of his preparation and attention to detail.
